Clearly they have no intention of doing that but there is a great alternative.

Yes, you heard it right! Quickoffice have implemented cut & paste to the iPhone before Apple have! It’s not quite as slick as the cut and paste Apple have promised for iPhone 3.0 but it really works!
It also has auto-save and auto-restore features.

It allows you to mount your iPhone as a wireless drive over wi-fi so you can drag and drop files between your iPhone and PC or Mac. G.I. Joyride, from Trapdoor, is a game that puts you in control of an armored troop carrier, with just one aim… to steam-roll your way through goose-stepping Nazi’s.
On booting up the game you are presented with suitably wartime-style swing music and, as with all war games of this era, the dirtied up dossier menu system. A quick tap of start and you’re off. The level starts with you landing on the beach, and you must immediately step on the gas by touching the right side of the screen. Stay stationary too long and you’ll be targeted and blown to smithereens, so it’s a good idea to get a move on. You’ll gain momentum pretty quickly, and from then on it’s a case of keeping your ATC level over jumps and bumps via tilt. Tilt your iPhone right to lower the front and left to raise it up, or wheelie.

That’s all there is to it really, just sit back and enjoy knocking over Nazi’s. If you get shot too many times or a bomber lands a strike on you, then it’s game over… but until that happens the level is endless. I’m guessing the engine pulls up random sections of pre built levels and stitches them together.
After your game is over you are given a rating with a comedy description of what happens when your men are caught. We have come such a long way from Steve’s iPhone SDK announcement in late 2007. Even before the official SDK was released, developers were writing simple games. Simple games evolved in to pick up and play examples of gaming perfection like Flight Control and Scoops.Let’s Golf features several game play modes, briefly outlined in our first impressions review. The first of which is Instant Play, which is pretty cut and dry. Upon selecting your golfer, you’re thrown into a random selection of three holes–Complete them all, hopefully under par, and you’re done.

After breezing through the included tutorial and getting a handle for the controls, most players will probably want to skip the Instant Play mode and head straight on over to Tournament mode to tee off against several AI golfers for fame, fortune, and most importantly…unlockable clothing and accessories!
In your first tournament, you only have access to two golf courses in easy mode with 1-9 hole, 10-18 hole, 1-18 hole, or 9 hole shuffle options. As you win trophies, more courses are unlocked, as well as additional difficulty levels, items, and golfers. While Let’s Golf only features four available golfers, they can each be customized with clothing, headwear, and golf balls. These seem to be randomly rewarded, as I won a dress for Elena while playing as Vincent.
Character attributes are measured across four different statistics: power, accuracy, recovery, and putting. Equipping different unlocked items provides an opportunity to increase these stats. For instance, the “school girl suit” provides +1 to recovery, making it easier to accurately hit the ball in the rough. Another noteworthy bonus of unlocking these perks is: any benefits gained from equipped items are also present while playing in Instant Play, Free Hole and multiplayer modes. The final single player game mode is Free Hole, where you can play on any of the four courses and any hole set by yourself, on any difficulty
Let’s Golf would be an excellent game with just these play modes, but Gameloft takes it one step further and includes not one, but two ways to challenge another player to a round of golf. In Hot Seat both golfers play using one device, passing it back and forth, depending on whose turn it is. If you find another person who also owns Let’s Golf, you can challenge them to a local WiFi match where each player uses their own device to compete. In my testing, both multiplayer methods worked great. Playing over local WiFi has a small amount of lag, but nothing that would ever be noticeable unless you have both screens side by side.

iDracula Undead Awakening 1.1 iPhone iPod Touch

Two-stick arcade shooters have become very popular since the advent of Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved on Xbox LIVE Arcade. The pick up and play nature of such games happens to be very well suited to the iPhone gaming philosophy of accessible and immediate experiences. In iDracula you take control of a guy with a cool hat and a nifty pair of boots, with the sole aim being to shoot as many of the incoming monsters as possible before they spoil your fun. Instead of two sticks as you'd get in console shooters of this type, there are some circles on the touch screen that act like analogue sticks would, moving your character with the left, and aiming the selected weapon with the right. While this is certainly a viable interpretation of traditional two-stick action, a lack of tactile feedback leaves you disconnected and not fully in control. Another disadvantage of using the touch screen is that your thumbs take up a small portion of it, enough to block your view of some of the oncoming enemies that might take you by surprise, but not enough to ruin a good run.

There are two main game modes, survival and rush, both of which pit you against waves of enemies for you to deal with. The differences are in pacing and depth. Rush drops you straight into some heavy action with at least a dozen monsters attacking you at any time, and an always fully loaded mini-gun to greet them with. Survival makes the game more interesting by slowing things down and adding depth to the experience through the availability of new weapons, a variety of enemies and a perks system that lets you choose from four random upgrades at intervals during the game.
The iPhone is starting to hit its stride, with developers figuring out the visual capabilities of the device, and iDracula is a great example of this. Imagine a top down view on your typical Castlevania game, and that’s a pretty accurate representation of the Gothic aesthetic - the game looks brilliant on iPhone’s high resolution screen and the animation is surprisingly proficient.

Guitar Hero III Mobile is an adaption of the Guitar Hero series of rhythm video games to mobile phones.
In a similar manner to other Guitar Hero games, the player simulates playing the lead guitar of several rock music songs by hitting notes that correspond to the phone's keypad buttons as they scroll down the screen in time to the music. Fifteen songs, taken from previous Guitar Hero games, are available in the base game, while a new three song track pack has been released each month since January 2008. Overall, Guitar Hero III Mobile has been well received. IGN considered it to be a "successful adaptation" of the Guitar Hero games to the cellphone keypad. They commented that the sound quality was excellent and the simplification down to three buttons from five makes the game "accessible to anybody with even a passing curiosity." CNET praised the quality of the sound and animations, as well as the ease of play. Cell Play referred to the game as "the true mobile port of rock," and praised the level of difficulty accomplished with the three button setup. They considered the shortened song length a negligible downside compared to the overall package. 1UP's review summarized their experience as "As a literal interpretation of the Guitar Hero formula, there was apparently no room to alter the game to emphasize the strengths of the mobile platform." Guitar Hero III Mobile won two awards at the Qualcomm 2008 BREW Developers Conference for "Best Game" and "People's Choice Award".

Metalion 2 for Pocket PCs

We reviewed the first Metalion game early in 2002 and now Metalion 2 has been released by Zio Interactive. Metalion is a fast-paced shooting game for Pocket PC devices. I tested it out on my iPaq 2215 and it works well, although the sound quality seems a bit unsteady. They have received reports of sound issues with the new Windows Mobile 2003 devices and are working on fixing the issue.

When you first start the game you are presented with a page of menu options for starting the game, accessing the options, accessing the help (with very poor broken English that does not make much sense), loading previously saved games, and exiting. There are several options available, including volume level, difficulty level, game speed, lighting, and shadows. The more visual options that you enable then the slower the game will be.

iSki2008 is a fun skiing game that features the accelerometer. You control the characters by tilting the iphone. Your object avoiding dangers while getting reward points. You will have all the fun and excitement as your character flying all over the skii ranger.

iSki 2008 is a snowboarding sim for iPhone which you control by tilting the device left and right to steer your boarder. Tilting the phone forwards or backwards changes your speed and clicking one of the arrow buttons performs a jump. The object of the game is to get to the bottom of the slope, weaving the correct way through the flags and avoiding obstacles. If you fall over more than five times then the game is over.

There are three levels of iSki 2008 to complete and your aim is to get to the top of the high scores table. Points are awarded for successfully navigating the flags and for performing jumps over obstacles.

In general I was impressed by the overall presentation of iSki 2008. The graphics are bold and bright and the animation gives a real impression of speed. The music is soft and soothing (it reminded me a bit of Mercury Rev), although it does get quite repetitive. There were a few little glitches in iSki 2008 that annoyed me though. For instance, it doesn't override the power-saving mode, so the screen will dim from time-to-time, meaning you'll need to keep touching the screen. I experienced a few small bugs with the loading screen and the game crashed completely on my twice. Hopefully the developer will fix these issues in future upgrades though.

Nokia Maps promises to be the mobile solution to navigating around the world and with free maps for 150 countries they could be right. In terms of content Nokia Maps has a lot to get excited about. Of course it provides a comprehensive routefinder facility whether you want to get from street-to-street, city-to-city, or country-to-country. But more than that, with Nokia Maps you can locate 15 million tourist spots meaning when you're in a new city the software will give you directions from wherever you are, telling you exactly how far you need to travel.

You can share these with friends and update and personalise your maps. It will work with GPS if your phone supports it. All you need to do to use the software is upload a city map onto your mobile and select what you want to search for eg hotels or restaurants. Then follow the route. One problem is that if want to create more detailed guides or add extras such as a voice-operated navigation guide you will need to pay. And it may even cost you to transfer free maps depending on your service provider, so do check. Nokia Maps is a very good starter package though.

Sky Thunder is a hardcore 2-D shooter that puts your bullet dodging skills to the test. Although your tiny ship packs lots of firepower, the game's developers do an excellent job clogging the iPhone's screen with enemies. Before long, you'll need to expertly weave around hundreds of bullets in a desperate attempt to avoid a nasty one-hit kill. You'll die several million times, but if you're an arcade fan, this is an essential purchase.

Before flying off to combat evil, you have the option of selecting one of three difficulty levels and two unique ships, fire and ice. From there, you choose between tilt and touch controls. Although we expected the touch controls to be superior, we actually got farther physically tilting our iPhones because our fingers didn't obscure the screen. No matter which method you pick, however, you'll need to survive the learning curve to make it past the first level.
Let that serve as the official warning, because unless you're super human, Sky Thunder will make you cry. Between all the bullets, enemies and bosses, you'll struggle to stay alive. Power-ups help a little, including screen clearing super weapons, but even on the easiest setting, this is a brutal game.
It's also wonderful to look at, thanks to well-drawn 2-D graphics that feature six unique environments, detailed ships and lots of explosions. There's even cool rock music that perfectly compliments the onscreen insanity.

What, what the hell am I talking about? I hate Texas Holdem. It's poker for the short attention span crowd, a hypercommercial sport for people who like watching this kind of stuff on tournaments. For people who want to go to poker tournaments without actually being, like, professional gamblers.

Zombie Invasion has you fight off (relatively small) hordes of zombies as they come after your character. You simply press on them with your finger and your character shoots them. That’s about it, but hey, it’s free and it’s zombies. The graphics are pretty smooth, and there’s only one background song but it’s not totally annoying. The difficulty is far too easy, but the developers said they’re working on getting better settings. Also, with only two types of enemies, I lost interest within a few minutes.

As such, it's without surprise that it arrives on a device that's drawing widespread attention. iPhone plays home to a new touch-enabled version of Tetris that looks nothing short of marvelous. Touch controls may not be the best fit for this classic puzzler, but the game still packs in plenty of fun.EA Mobile has done a phenomenal job bringing Tetris to iPhone with a vibrant presentation. Bright colors, flashy animated effects, and a sleek interface give this 20-year-old game a facelift.

When it comes to gameplay, it's just as fetching. Tetris brings the classic in full form here on iPhone with Marathon mode dropping you right into the action. The goal is to survive 15 levels of increasingly fast blocks descending onto the matrix. Moving through a level requires clearing ten lines from the screen, at which point you bump up a level and the blocks pick up speed.

Complementing standard play is Magic mode, which consists of 15 individual objective-based levels. Here, the goal revolves around clearing a set number of lines designated at the start of each level. Special items help you to survive the torrent of blocks in later stages, as well as quickly clear lines. Bubble wrap, for example, transforms blocks on the matrix into tiny bubbles that you can pop with taps of your finger. Our favorite is the magic crayon that lets you draw whatever piece you want next.

Creative use of the touchscreen with regards to items is definitely entertaining, yet there are a couple issues with the controls when it comes to directing blocks. Tapping the screen at either side of a block rotates in that direction. Holding your finger down on the screen and then moving it to the left or right moves the block accordingly. You can trigger a hard drop by flicking down on the screen; conversely, dragging the block down with your finger instigates a soft drop.

Hard drops are tricky since the game occasionally registers a downward flick as slightly to the left or right. As a result, your block veers from the intended spot. The solution to this is simply forgo hard drops and let the blocks descend on their own time. Which can feel laborious during the early stages (and also affects your score).

Another problem with the touch controls, however, arises during later levels when manipulating fast-moving blocks is all but impossible. Rotating blocks becomes quite difficult when blocks are streaming down the matrix at high speeds. Part of this works into the game's natural difficult, but it seems excessive on iPhone. Controlling those blocks by touch on level 12, for instance, is sheer lunacy.

As long as you're comfortable with the challenges presented by the touch controls, Tetris is filled with fun. Additional modes or some form of multiplayer would have been nice, but what's packed in here looks good and plays equally as well � all we'll say is that considerably better versions of this classic exist.

Do you think ten-pin bowling is sexy? The folks at Gameloft certainly do. Then again they seem to think that lots of leisure activities, including pool and poker, are sexy.
Populated by a selection of well scrubbed and toned characters who could have jumped off the pages of Vogue, Midnight Bowling continues to uphold the high level of presentation we've come to expect from the Midnight franchise.It's certainly eye-catching, but bowling in three-inch heels and tiny crop tops? We've not seen that down our local Megabowl.
Of course, more important than the surface is how Midnight Bowling plays. The basic control method is straightforward. You move your hottie bowler left or right with your finger to line them up for a shot.Then, if you're using the manual method, you flick your finger forward to release the bowl. You can add spin as it runs down the alley by moving your finger left or right.

Alternatively, you can use the accelerometer. Waving your handset forward throws the ball, whereas tilting left or right applies spins. Slightly confusingly, the best method is a hybrid: finger flick to bowl and then tilt to control the ball's direction (you have to go into options and change the spin's manual/sensor settings to do this).

Whichever method you find most comfortable, it's the couple of seconds of intuitive fun that occurs during each attempted strike that seals Midnight Bowling's current reputation as the best bowling experience on the App Store.

In fact, you could argue it's a bit easy as you quickly rack up regular scores past the 150-mark, but there's enough challenge to keep you pushing to get your highest high score, even when killing some minutes in the Arcade mode.

Still, there are some niggles and these are mainly attributable to the game's excessive polish. Beautifully-rendered alleys and 3D characters with their own unique animations and dialogue delay the start of each new game for a couple of seconds due to loading.

Then there's the situation where you can get a slight stutter once you've bowled into the skittles and the CPU is working out exactly where they all end up. You'll often see one last skittle spinning slowly around as presumably some sort of friction calculation is processed.

All that excessive polish does bring a slew of features and extras. There are six characters; four need to be unlocked, although only the default Lyle, sexy Rosse, and finale Brian are worth selecting.

Each has different Power, Precision and Rotation attributes but the spread between them isn't well defined. There are various bowls types and costumes to unlock too, which you can accomplish by playing the Arcade mode and gaining cash.

Then playing the Story mode - in which you have to beat five of the characters within some sort of a Happy Days-style plot - unlocks the locations. You can also play the up to four player hand-a-round party mode, or play solo or go up against a CPU opponent in arcade mode.

But where Midnight Bowling performs best is simply its ability to make you want to have just another go. Cool controls, pretty girls, beefcake guys, and high scores: what's not to like?

When GuardMobile is active and "exited", it does not use any program memory (only a few bytes) or cpu power! It is "sleeping" until it is asked to do some action (via SMS).

Since every device supports SMS nowadays, the whole communication is done via SMS, which means you can control your device using any other cellular phone (no Windows Mobile required!). No internet access is necessary. The device replies all actions with a confirmation SMS.

Face Melter is an image manipulation application. You take a picture either from your photo library or from the camera itself and manipulate it by moving your finger across the screen. It’s a simple little app that’s loads of fun!

The idea is pretty intuitive. You load or take a picture, then you push on it with your finger to move the pixels around — it gives the image a stretched appearance. The resulting images can vary from slightly odd — like increasing the size of an eye — to surreal (see the sample images below).

If you go too far, and you will know when that happens, there’s an undo feature. The undo button in the upper right can be toggled to reverse the changes. With this toggled when you drag your finger over the screen the pixels under your finger will move back to their original locations while maintaining a stretched appearance in the rest of the image.

Once you have your masterpiece you can save the image back to your image library for use as a contact image, background, or to email to someone.
